Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow...

 The other day I was working on balancing my checkbook - it has to balance to the penny - and I was so wrapped up in finding my mistake I hadn't noticed it had started to snow.  I just finished my checkbook when I heard a door slam so I looked out to find my husband home for lunch but I was even more excited to see it snowing.  I LOVE THE SNOW.  Of course, I don't have to get out in it or work in it, although I do love to go cruisin' when it starts to snow.

Ok so you probably don't really care for my checkbook issues or my love of snow, so on to todays project.  My grandson Ryan and I put the Christmas tree up over Thanksgiving weekend.  For the last several years I have decorated my tree in all snowmen or snowflake type ornaments.  Remember I told you I love snow, well I also really like snomen.  So I decided to make a tissue box cover to go with the snowman theme.  This was my first try at it and I did make a few mistakes but I decided to keep it anyway.  I hope you like it.

Christmas in July

Well not exactly.  You all know I run behind so this card was actually made in August. 

I'm helping my friend Terri make cards for a fundraiser that her puppet team at Faith Fellowship Church in Hidalgo Illinois is having August 20th.  The fundraiser helps to pay for mission trips that her puppet team takes.  They just recently went to Alaska.  To find out more about her puppet ministry, the mission trips or the fundraiser go to www.puppetsfromtheheart.com.

Treat Box Card

Is it a card or is it a box?  It's both. 

This is my first go at a Treat Box Card.  On the left side is a little box that you can put small treats or gifts in.  I've put tealight candles in this one.  If you wanted to put jewelry or something really small in it, you could put a piece of transparency over the opening so that it couldn't fall out.  Or you could just not punch the window in it at all.

On the right side is a pocket that you could put a tag with a message on it or you could slip a gift card into it.

These are really pretty simple to create and would make great gifts for anytime - Christmas, Valentines, Birthdays.

Delightful Decorations Ornaments

I love the little ornaments that you can make with the new Ornament Punch. I modified the one on the card and just used 3 punches instead of 6. The Ornament will lay flat on the card for mailing, then can just be popped back up for displaying.

The pearls from the Pretties Kit really sets off the ornaments. The ribbon on the card is retired Stampin' Up ribbon. I really miss that ribbon.

Scenic Season

I knew as soon as I saw this stamp set in the new catalog that I was going to get it. I knew it would make quick, easy and very pretty cards.

On this card I used the Dryer Sheet technique. I stamped the image in Black Stazon ink on Whisper White cardstock then ran it through my Zxyron machine. I then stretched a dryer sheet tightly on that piece and trimmed it up. Rub some Dazzling Diamonds on that, attach it to Basic Black cardstock, tie on some ribbon and there you have it.

I'm sorry you see my thumb in the picture, but I wanted to tilt the card a little so you could see how glittery it really is.

Delightful Decorations

Here is another display card from my open house. Remember I told you I had made several cards, so I have more to come.

This card featured two new items from the Holiday Mini catalog. First of all, I used the Frost White shimmer paint on this card and I also used one of my new stamps sets - Delightful Decorations. This card is a total case.

I used Handsome Hunter and Elegant Eggplant ink and cardstock. But can you see the shimmer on the ornament? I did that by inking up my stamp with Elegant Eggplant ink then using a sponge dauber, I dabbed Frost White shimmer paint directly onto the stamp before stamping the image. This card is very pretty in real life and was very quick to make. This card is in the running for my Christmas cards this year.

Snowglobe Card

This is another display card from my open house. This one uses
the new Treat Cups from the Holiday Mini to make the "globe". The base is made with the large oval punch and the snowmen in the globe are from the hostess set The More The Merrier. The "snow" is just white chunky glitter.

I apologize for the poor picture quality, I'm not sure if it is the camera, the operator, or maybe a combination of both.

A New Look and a New Card

So do you like my new look? Fall is my favorite season, so I decided I needed to change my blog to match the season. So I now have a fall blog and I am posting Christmas cards.

These are two more cards I made for my open house. I intended to post sooner, but I keep having internet problems. Only the cable company tells me my internet is fine - it's slower than dial up right now, and that is when it is working.

Anyway, enough of my problems. I really like these cards but the colors in the picture are off. These cards was actually made with Mellow Moss card stock and it looks more like Kraft or Sahara Sand in the picture. The card also has a lot of sparkle on it. I added dazzling diamonds to the snow and the new shimmer paint from the Holiday Mini on the star, so it looks very festive in real life. (Click on it to enlarge it and get a better picture) It also uses the new ribbon from the Holiday Mini. I told you in the previous post that I tried to use new product on all the cards that I made for the Open House.

The More the Merrier!

Remember, we are doing simple cards here.
This card is again made with The More the Merrier Hostess Set and the new Teeny Tiny Wishes set.
I used ballet blue for the card base, I don't think I have ever used this paper before. The image is colored in with various Stampin' Up markers and I hope you can see the little bit of dazzling diamonds glitter that I added on the hat and on the snow.
I also used my favorite tool, which I told you before were punches. I own most of the punches that Stampin' Up has and a few they don't have. On this card I used the brand new Modern Label Punch along with my well used Word Window Punch.
I haven't forgot about sharing with you my "latest and greatest" purchase. It will be coming soon!

This years Christmas Card

Here is this years Christmas card. I used the new Stampin' Up set "To You and Yours". The paper is always artichoke and Riding Hood Red. It's hard to tell in the picture, but I've also added a lot of Dazzling Diamonds Glitter so it really sparkles.

I hope you all have a Merry and Blessed Christmas. Try not to stress over the food, presents and whether your house is clean enough for company (if it's like my house it may start clean, but it doesn't last long anyway). Just enjoy your day with family, playing with kids or grandkids, and remember to thank the Lord for all your blessings.

Here's what I've been up to...

Busy again! It's hard work being retired. Between cleaning house, cooking, (not so much)Thanksgiving, Christmas shopping and grandkids I have been pretty busy. But I have also been busy trying to get ready for a Christmas Bazaar.

I've made Snowman Soup and Poop, Bind-it-all books and Post-it note holders, Dominoe pins, Cork boards, Etched glass blocks, Tile magnets and coasters, covered peppermint patty candy, Christmas Fudge (hershey bars), Paperclip bookmarks and more... There are a lot more things I would liked to have made but I've simple run out of time. The bazaar is Saturday and I will be gone all day Friday to the Children's Hospital and I still need to make business cards and price everything so I'm out of time.

Anyway, I've took some pictures that I will be sharing with you over the next few days. But for today I'm going to show the Tile coasters I made. I used the retired set Peaceful Wishes. I love this set and I think they retired it too early. I also made the box for them to fit in. The bottom of the box is Old Olive paper and the top Very Vanilla decorated with retired Stampin Up paper. I'm trying to use up some of the stuff I have stashed. I lined the bottom of the box with chipboard to help study it up. I think it turned out pretty well and if you would like the dimensions for the box, just let me know.

Poinsetta Ornament

This is another medallion stamp from Holly Berry Stamps. You follow the same directions as on the Snowflake card. Stamp the image several times with versamark and emboss with gold, then cut out and layer.

I sprayed the flower with gold pearl ex and then added gold glitter to the tips of the petals. It really sparkles in real life.

Snowflake Medallion Stamp

Ok, I'm still not at my goal of posting once a day, but I'm doing better.

This card was made with a stamp I bought in Nashville, Indiana at a little store called Papertrix. If you ever get there, stop in. It's a neat little store, with a very friendly and helpful owner.

The stamp is made by Holly Berry Stamps, it's called a medallion stamp. The images are nestled inside of each other. You stamp your image several times, emboss them, then cut out different flakes and layer them.

I used the cuttlebug for the background, the paper is shimmer white, brocade blue and night of navy from Stampin' Up. I can't remember where I got the ribbon. I also used my gelly roll stardust pen to add some glitter.

The center of the card is a stampin dimensional dipped in glitter. I also sprayed the snowflake with Silver Pearl ex mixed in hairspray. The card is very sparkly in real life.

I also have a Poinsetta medallion stamp that I bought in a Rubber stamp store in Branson Mo this summer. I will post an ornament that I made with that soon.
