Praying For You...

I've been playing in my stamp room all day today.  My husband went on a retreat this weekend and he took me to a little scrapbooking store before he left and he let me buy some new stuff.  Not that I really needed any new stuff, but don't tell him that!

One of the things I bought was Honey Comb paper.  It's fun to play with.  Since I didn't buy any of the coordinating stamp sets that go with the Honey Comb paper, I had to come up with ways to use it on my own.

So here is my first idea.  Simply the center of a flower. This paper has to be used inside a card because when you open the card, that is what causes the paper to fan out.  So if you are wondering why I would put a flower in the fold of my card - now you know.

I also used my new favorite paper - Everyday Enchantment - which is available for FREE during Sale-a-bration with a $50 order.

Symbols of Salvations

This is another card I made using a retired Stampin' Up set - Symbols of Salvation. The sentiment was perfect for a young lady who came forward and accepted Jesus as her Savior two weeks ago at church.
This is a very simple card, but I think the paper really "makes" the card. It's the new double sided textured cardstock called Parisian Breeze. The cardstock is so pretty, there isn't a single sheet (or side) that I don't like.
I also used my new Eyelet border punch and the new white organdy ribbon - all from Stampin' Up. The little cross is a charm that I believe I bought a Wal-mart a long time ago and just hadn't found the right card to use it on - until now.

Masculine Card

I think masculine cards are the hardest to make. This card was made from the stamp set Touched by Nature by Stampin' Up. This is a really good set and I love the bird. This same card could have been a very feminine card by just changing the colors a little bit.

I used a technique called "Out of the Box". If you look close you can see that the bird's feathers and part of the leaves are sticking out of the square piece of paper. I stamped the bird image in black stazon ink on watercolor paper, then colored with my SU markers. If you use watercolor paper with your SU markers, you don't have the lines like you do on other types of paper. Your image has a very smooth look to it. I used the leaf image and acorn image from the same set as background stamps. Throw in a little paper piercing, tie some twill ribbon on it and your done.

Markers: Barely Banana, Summer Sun, Mellow Moss, Always Artichoke, Close to Cocoa, Only Orange

Long Time Friend Card

This is a stamp set (Long Time Friend) I borrowed from a friend of mine. I really like it. I wish now I would have bought this set when it it was available. It was in one of the mini catalogs.

I used my Stampin' Up Metallic pencils and Pure color pencils using the gamasol magic technique, and markers to color the image stamped on watercolor paper.

I used Lavendar Lace and Mellow Moss paper and some of the new Chocolate Chip Twill ribbon from the current mini catalog. The verse is from the retired stamp set Words of Wisdom.

I've also made a set of coasters from this set that I will try to get uploaded tomorrow.

Quilt Block Card

I haven't posted anything in quite a while. I haven't had a lot of time to stamp lately. I hope I can catch up on some things this weekend.

Here is a card I made for the Limited Supply Challenge on Splitcoaststampers. It's a quilt block card. This is as close to quilting as I will probably ever get, although my mom made some really beautiful quilts.

To make the card, I took a 3 3/4 square piece of natural ivory cardstock and scored it every 1 1/4". This just makes it easier to place your blocks. I then used Apple Cider designer paper and my 1 1/4" square punch and punched out 5 different designs. 2 of the designs I cut in half. Then just place your pieces according to the card. You might want to lay it out first so you can decide what looks best before gluing it all down.

In the corner of the block I stamped the leaf image from Refuge and Strength in Sahara Sand, then stamped the saying over it in Really Rust. The block is layered on Really Rust cardstock then attached to Wild Wasabi cardstock. I took a strip of the Apple Cider paper and ran it through the buckle which is punched out of Choc. Chip cardstock. I used my white gel pen and made little lines around all the squares so it would look like it was quilted. For those who can run a sewing machine, you could actually stitch it. And there you have it. It took a lot longer to design the card then to make it. I could probably repeat this card in less than ten minutes.
