Women's Expo

The last few days I have been busy getting ready for a Women's Expo that I participated in Saturday. I was one of the presenters at Casey White Oak's Women Expo. This was the first time I have ever done anything like this, and will probably be my last. I was a nervous wreck. I'm very thankful for my friend Terri who went with me and helped me out. THANKS TERRI. She knows I owe her one now.

The ladies were all very nice, it's just that I have a fear of public speaking. But I made it through with lots of prayer and I'm glad it's over. Although, I'm sure I would really have enjoyed it a lot if I hadn't been a presenter. They served a continental type breakfast to start with and registered everyone and broke them off into groups. Then we all went in the sanctuary where a man gave us a presentation on women's heart health. I did learn some interesting things about that. Next, the ladies broke off into three groups and this is where I came in. We had three stations that each group visited. One lady gave a presentation about the Casey Historical Society, another lady demonstrated how to make flower arrangements and talked about Mexico her birthplace. Then I gave a class on basic cardmaking and had everyone make a card. Most of the ladies had never stamped before and we only had 30 minutes for each segment, so I had to keep it pretty basic.

Everyone did manage to get their card made and I gave them some basic information about the items they would need to get started with stamping and so forth. After everyone rotated through all the stations, they served us lunch. They had a mexican theme and we had a taco bar for lunch. Their decorations were cool and they had several door prizes. The picture with the magazine holder, bookmarks and 3x3 cards is what I donated for a door prize. The other picture shows the individual cards in the magazine holder. I'm sorry the picture isn't very good. I was taking them about 6:30 in the morning, and anyone who knows me, knows I am not a morning person.

April 2009 Stamp Club Projects

Here were the projects we made this month at Stamp Club. I apologize for the bad pictures, they really do look so much better IRL. I really like the new stamp set "Forest Friends" from the new mini. When I first saw it, I thought it would be a good set for kids, but I think it will be much more versatile than that.

I used "Forest Friends" on the last 2 cards. The images that remind you of Thumper and Bambi are from that set, and the tree on the second card is also from that set. I think the second card makes a great masculine card. The corner of that card is also a removable bookmark, so you have a card and small gift all in one.

The top card is a case from somewhere, honestly I don't know who came up with this idea first as I have seen this type of card many times. I'm not sure you get the full affect, but it is a very sparkly card.

Kim

Since I'm on a roll...

Ok, I got my March Stamp Club pictures loaded, they even lined themselves up. So I'm going to try another picture.

This is a framed quilt block that I made out of some retired Stampin' Up paper. I added the "happiness" rub-on, which was leftover from Sale-a-bration last year.

I got the patterns for these quilt blocks at the CKC at St.Louis a couple of weeks ago. I found out about it at the last minute and my husband took me. I had a great time, and he tolerated it. He was a good sport about the whole thing, even carried all my bags. The best part was when I spent all my money (after the second booth I visited), he handed me his debit card and said go for it. So I did.

March Stamp Club Projects

Here it is almost time for my April Stamp Club and I haven't posted the projects from our March club. I've been having a lot of problems with my computer being slow when I'm on the internet. You would think I still had dial-up, it's been so slow. I have tried posting, but I have so much trouble I just give up.

So I'm going to try again.... Here goes nothing............

Ok, I got the pictures loaded, but I can't seem to line them up. We will just have to live with this.
I'm not going to type any long explanations, but if you would like an instruction sheet for these cards, just shoot me an email.

Thanks for looking,
Kim
