Going to miss Green Galore...

I'm pretty excited about the Color Renovation at Stampin' Up and I can't wait to see the new colors. But one of the colors I'm really going to miss is Green Galore. It just goes with any bright color, but I especially like it with Real Red and Pink Passion (not at the same time though). And throw in just a touch of black and it really POPS!

So here is another "Bee" card using the Real Red/Green Galore Combo.

Trying to get back on track...

I haven't posted any new cards lately because for one, I haven't been stamping lately and for two, I have been spending as much time outside as I can.

The weather here has been great. We have had some rain and a few cool days, but over all the last few weeks have been really nice. I have been working in my flower beds - weeding, mulching, pruning bushes, that kind of thing. I have also been trying to do a little spring cleaning around here. I have 3 rooms done so far.

So stamping hasn't been a big priority here lately. I know before long the hot summer days will set in and I will be ready to just stay inside in the A/C, so I want to take advantage of the nice weather while I can.

I have also started walking and we have had several events at church that I have helped with so that also has taken up some time. And we are coming to the close of our Seeker's Program so there is a lot of things to be done for the End-of-the-Year Cookout and Store that we have for the kids.

BUT, I did finally get around to taking some pictures of the cards we made at my last "playdate" with my friend Terri. This first one is a card that I created using the bee cased from Andrea Walford's blog. I did simplify my bee a bit. I didn't make a stinger for the bee or shape his head, I kept mine simple.

I hope you like it and check back this week for some more cards from the playdate.

Kim

Sorry for the confusion

I had posted the new colors here last night, then was told we weren't allowed to do so by some other demos, but now we are told by Stampin' Up that we are allowed to post this. I guess it always pays to go straight to the source. So here goes again.

New Color Collections at Stampin' Up

Hi Everyone,

I just wanted to let you know that Stampin' Up has just announced that they are revamping their color families. They are actually called the Color Collections now. There is the Brights Collections, Regals Collection, Subtle Collections and the Neutrals Collection.

There will now be 10 colors in each collection. These are made up of some of the old colors, some returning in colors, and some brand new colors. Some of the old colors have been moved to differenct color collections. This means Stampin' Up will now have 40 core colors. They will still have 5 new in colors that will debut with the new catalog. One of the exciting things about the in colors is that they will now be around for 2 years. Next year we will get another five colors, and the following year when we get our new colors, the ones from this year will retire.

Some of your favorite colors may be going so I wanted you to have plenty of time to stock up on these colors. This new Color Renovation will appear in the new catalog coming out in July. Another option to consider is purchasing the My Digital Studio software. It has all the current 48 colors and these will always be available.

I am sure some of you will be excited about these changes and others, well not so much. If there is anything I can do to make this transition easier, please let me know. Also, for those wondering about the markers, watercolor crayons and chalks, Stampin' Up will be offering the new colors in "kits". They will be available for purchase in July from the new catalog. So for instance, you won't have to buy a new set of chalks to get the new colors, you will just purchase the kit and replace the retiring colors.

I hope this all makes sense, but if you have any questions just let me know and I will try my best to answer them. While I am sad to see certain colors go, I am excited about the changes and hope you will be also.

Thanks for stopping by,
Kim

March Stamp Club Projects

These were the projects we did for Stamp Club this month. Since this is my birthday month, I decided to do birthday projects. The first picture is of what I like to call a "Surprise Can". You can fill these with all sorts of small treats, jewelry, or gift cards. My daughter got one for her 16th birthday two years ago and underneath the candy we hid the keys to her new car (new to her anyway).

The second card would be good for teenage boys. They are so hard to make cards for, don't you think? And if you change the colors, it would work great for girls too. I really like these new "extreme" single stamps that Stampin' Up has.

The third card is from the Build-a-Bear line. So far I have all the Build-a-Bears dies and stamp sets except for one, and I will get that one soon. I really like this line.

ONE MORE...

Ok, here is the last one of these for a while. It's the same card just different colors. Although I think this color combination is my favorite.

How many of you remember when Stampin' Up carried the Organza Ribbon? My favorite thing to do with the ribbon was to heat it with your embossing gun and watch it get all crinkled. Is crinkle even a word? Anyway, it was a fun technique although you had to be very careful not to melt the ribbon.

Thanks for looking,
Kim

ps - Can you find my mistake on this card?

Another Card with Bookmark

I cased myself on this card. Just changed up the colors and used the "faux lace" technique this time.

Punch Art Kangaroo

I love punch art. Whenever my friend Terri comes over for a "play date", we usually make some kind of punch art cards. This is one that I think we made last month.

We used several different punches to make the kangaroo - Wide Oval, Large Oval, 5 Petal Flower Punch, Word Window Punch, Trio Flower Punch, Heart to Heart Punch and the 1" Circle Punch.

I can't remember which designer paper I used (I've slept since then), but the card base and ribbon is Melon Mambo and the layer and kangaroo is Close to Cocoa.

Sweet Pea Card

This is a really quick card that I made with the new Sweet Pea Designer Series Paper. The papers in this pack are great for making easy cards with very little stamping. I also really like the new satin ribbon in the Occasions Mini and it is going to be carried over in the new Summer Mini which will be available May 1st.

The stamped image is from the Vintage Labels set which is FREE with a $50 purchase. Don't forget this is the last month to earn free stamps with our Sale-a-bration Promotion

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME...

Yep, today is my birthday. So far I have done absolutely nothing. Which sometimes is my favorite thing to do! I am going out for lunch later with my daughter Jess and my grandsons Ryan and Myer. Then I will probably go out for supper this evening with my husband - or he will cook for me. Either way, as long as I don't have to cook, I am happy.

I just got my new Stampin Success magazine in the mail with the new mini, but I'm waiting until after lunch to look at it. I've gotten a lot of birthday wishes from my friends from facebook so those were fun to read. For some reason they just don't believe I am only 32. I thought 32 sounded much more believable than 29.

I was hoping the sun would be out today as I have some cards that I need to take pictures of, but so far it's just a gloomy day. The sun did peep out for just a few minutes earlier this morning, but not long enough for me to get my pictures taken. Anyway, I am off to straighten up my stamp room until it is time to go for lunch.

Downline Meeting Update

I just wanted to let everyone know how the downline meeting went. I had a great time. Everyone was very friendly and Cristie did a wonderful job. She had her agenda and the notes all typed out for us. She was very organized.

For her business tip, she went over the demonstrator website with us and why we need one. She also covered the updates - the hostess portal and the blog. It was all very informative.

We all swapped cards, did a make & take and had a demonstration. Of course we had lots of snacks too. Demonstrators and Baptists have one thing in common - we don't ever get together with out eating LOL! It was a very enjoyable afternoon. Thanks again Cristie for allowing us to be a part of your group.

I'm sorry I didn't take any pictures of the meeting, I meant too. I even had my camera with me, but I just forgot.

I spent today with my friend Terri making cards, so hopefully if I can get some good pictures I will share those cards with you tomorrow. My grandson is spending the night this evening and he likes for me to watch movies and eat popcorn with him, so I won't be on my computer much.

Thanks for stopping by,
Kim

ps - As a member of the Freedom Baptist Church, I was poking fun at myself so please don't anyone get upset by my demonstrator/baptist comment. And if you are a southern baptist, you know this statement is true anyway :)
