You're on My Mind...

Here is another card that I have sewn on with my new Janome Sew Mini. If you are looking for an easy to use, inexpensive, real sewing machine, this is the one for you.
The color looks a little washed out, but I used So Saffron and Pumpkin Pie paper, the Daisy die and the Stamin' Up Little Leaf die. The sentiment is from the stamp set Upsy Daisy and is stamped with Chocolate Chip ink.
Thanks for looking,

My "Latest and Greatest" Tool

Ok, here is my new "latest and greatest" tool. It's the Janome Sew-Mini.

Now those who know me well know that I have absolutely no sewing abilities. As a matter of fact, I almost didn't pass 7th grade Home Ec because I had problems making my apron. Mrs. Charles, our teacher, insisted that everyone had to make an apron to pass the class and to be able to start the "cooking" part of the class. This was a class that every boy and girl had to take, it was not an option. And even the boys did better on their aprons than I did. If it wasn't for my friend Debbie who finished my apron when the teacher wasn't looking, I would still be sitting in that class today.

Because of this ordeal in 7th grade, I have never tried sewing on cards before, although I really think it adds to them. Now if you also know me, you know when it comes to card making, I like to try every technique out there. So I had been considering for some time purchasing a sewing machine. I had been looking at the Pixie Machines by Singer that are sold at Wal-mart. I just about made up my mind to buy one when I saw the Janome featured on Stamp TV. After doing a little more research I found that most people chose the Janome over the Pixie Singer. And several ladies who bought the Pixie had trouble with them and returned them.

Now for those of you who can sew, you are probably looking at my little machine and laughing, but I really like it. I watched the videos on Stamp TV to learn how to thread the machine and make a bobbin. It took me a while to catch on the first time, I had a couple of issues, but the second time I made the bobbin and rethreaded the machine it was a piece of cake. My sewing skill are lacking a little as you can tell from my first card here, but I hope to get better with practice. So there you have it, my new tool and my first card made with my new tool. What do you think?

This is a lot harder than I thought...

Keeping up with this blog is a lot harder than I thought it would be. I don't know what my problem is, I will do pretty good job of posting for a few days, then BAM, I hit a big dry spell. Oh, well, all I can do is say I'm sorry, but I do appreciate those of you who keep checking in.

Enough excuses, I wanted to share a card with you. Several weeks ago my friend Terri came over and we spent the whole day making cards. That was a lot of fun. She drug over a bunch of her stuff and we had a big mess in my stamp room. But we did get quite a few cards made. This is one that I did using the Upsy Daisy set which I've had for a while now.
I stamped the flowers in Pumpkin Pie ink, then stamped it again with So Saffron to give it the shadowed look. I punched the butterfly from some old So Saffron DSP that I had. I layered it all on pumpkin pie paper and added some pumpkin pie ribbon. That is my favorite thing about Stampin' Up, the way everything matches.

May Stamp Club Projects

I seem to have a hard time posting on a regular basis these days. It's partly because we have been busy and partly because I haven't been feeling well. Hopefully things will calm down soon.

Here are the projects from this months stamp camp. I apologize for the dark pictures, I've taken them at night and they don't turn out as well as when you have natural light.
This first card was made using the "black magic" technique. You simply stamp an image in Whisper White craft ink, dry the ink, and color the image in with Stampin Up Pure Color Pencils. The lines on the background was made using the Zig Painty Pen. I'm not going to post all the details as it's late and I'm tired, but if anyone wants directions, just email me and I will send you a copy. I have them saved on a word document.

This second card is a gate fold card.

The last project pictured is a card holder. You could put 4-5 cards plus envelopes in this box. I think they would make neat gift items, a complete set of cards and matching box holder.

Well those are the projects for this month. I'm sorry for the lack of details, but again if you are interested, just email me and I will send you the instructions.

Blessings

Finally - a new post...

I hadn't realized how long it had been since I had posted anything. Time really goes by fast.

So here is a new card. There is no stamping on this card. This one was made with my new embossing folders for my cuttlebug. I used two different folders on this card. I also used my new scor-pal to add some lines to break up the embossing folders and the "thinking of you" sentiment is one of the rub-ons from Sale-a-brations.

I used watercolor paper and colored in the birds and swirls with my SU markers. I messed up on the bottom and ran the embossing folder in upside down, so my dots are not embossed out. To cover up my mistake, I just colored the dots in with a SU marker also.

Do you reconize the color of the paper? It's Stampin' Up's retired Mauve Mist. I thought I had a bad batch of Pale Plum paper on my hand before I realized this was one of the colors Stampin Up retired several years ago. I added some ribbon to the top of the card and it's done. A really quick and easy card to make.

It's become very popular now to use two different embossing folders on your cards. You can go to this site to see some really amazing cards using the Cuttlebug embossing folders.

Year After Year III

Ok, here is card #3 in the Year After Year Set. I used Lavendar Lace cardstock. The flowers are colored in with Twinkling H2O's. I used the SU corner rounder punch to make the scallop, and finished it off with the new SU Rhinestones in the center of the flower.

Vases in Vogue

On this card, I used the Three Flower Punch and the Spiral Punch. The rhinestones in the center of each flower are from the Dollar Tree. The colors are So Saffron, Tempting Turquois, and Regal Rose.
This card uses the new Prints Designer Series Papers. You can't tell from the picture, but I used Certainly Celery. The hearts are from a non-SU punch.

This card uses Barely Banana and Real Red. The flower is punched from the retired Daisy Punch.

Thinking of You Card

This is a card I cased from Splitcoaststampers, except I added the flowers by using the new Three Flower Punch.

I used the Paper Piercing mat in the corners. You can't tell it very well in the picture, but the image (from the hostess Set Garden Hilhouettes)is stamped first in Blush Blossom, then in the new In-color Groovey Guava. The same color of papers are used.

I've never been a big fan of blush blossom, but I really like these two colors together.
