The first of the Valentine Cards

Here is one of my Valentine cards. I saw the penguins on several blogs and decided I had to give them a try also.

I did change the beaks on mine a little bit. After several tries of making the heads and not satisfied with them, I finally figured out a way to make them so they came out each and every time.

I used basic black, whisper white and pumpkin pie paper on the penguins of course. The background paper is from the Candy Lane Designer paper and the card base is Red Riding Hood. I used the scalloped edge punch, oval punch, small oval punch, 1 3/8 circle punch, large oval punch, tab punch and the Punches Plus brass plate. I love my punches in case you can't tell. (All Stampin Up products).

Here's a Scrapling

So what is a "Scrapling" you ask? A scrapling is a small card or in this case a bookmark, made from cardstock that is leftover from cutting 4.25 square cards. Most people make their scraplings 1.5 x 4.25, but I made mine 2 x 4.25.

This one is a bookmark with magnetic strips on the inside bottom. I again used Tangerine Tango cardstock and designer paper, So saffron cardstock, and Chocolate Chip cardstock.

Did you notice the little flower? It was made with the new Heart to Heart punch. I punched 5 of the little tiny hearts and just placed them in the shape of a flower. I then added a chocolate chip circle on top of the flower to finish it off. I like it when the punches are versatile and you can get a lot of use out of them. I will have to show you my penquin card soon.

Still Buzzin...

Here's another card made with the new Just Buzzin By stamp set. I used Tangerine Tango, So Saffron and Chocolate Chip on this card. I colored the hive in using my Watercolor Crayons and an aqua painter brush. I also used the Tangerine Tango designer paper and ribbon.

The card size is a little different, it's 4.25 x 4.25. I will show you later the scrapling I made from the left over cardstock.

Just Buzzin' By ...

Sorry for the bad picture, the lighting was horrible. This is one of the new sets in Spring/Summer catalog. In addition to the images shown, there are 2 more bees, a honey pot, a flower, and a sentiment that says "have a honey of a day". These could be used for birthday cards or thinking of you type cards, just about anything really.

I've already gave the card away so I don't remember for sure what colors I used. I think it was summer sun, more mustard and I know I used chocolate chip. It's hard to see, but I added dazzling diamonds to the bee's little wings. I think this will be a very popular set.

January Stamp Club Projects

I'm sorry I haven't posted in a while, everytime I try, my computer locks up. Here are the projects that we did at Stamp Club this month. I'm not going to post all the details, I think you can figure it all out. If you have any questions on any of these projects, just send me an email and I will be happy to help you.

I would like for you all to pray for my granddaughter Hydi, she's in the hospital. She has RSV and pneumonia. She looks so pitiful with her little oxygen tubes and IV's, but when I went yesterday to see her, she was smiling at me before I left. She was admitted Monday and I'm not sure if she will be able to come home tomorrow even. The doctor said she was a very sick little girl, so please keep her in your prayers.

Meet Myer Evan Walker

Here is my newest grandbaby - Myer Evan - whom I have decided to call Elvis. I have tried to get my daugther to use Presley as a middle name for either of her boys and since she didn't and he was born on Elvis' birthday, I've decided I will just call him Elvis. I have already convinced Ryan (his big brother) that his name is Elvis. He was even arguing with his dad about it when he came to pick him up tonight.

Little Elvis was born at 11:58am (Illinois time) January 8th. He weighed 6lbs 110z and is 19" long. For a little while it looked like mom was going to have to have a C-section (his cord was wrapped around his neck), but she delivered naturally and after spending most of the day in the nursery in the "warmer", he is doing fine and mom is feeling pretty good also.

It's getting late and I have to get up early, Gracie has a hair appointment tomorrow, so I will try and post a few more pictures tomorrow.

Button Box

This is what I will call a "Button Box", just because it is a box with a button on it. I got the idea from Dawn's blog.

Her box called for a piece of cardstock 12"x 9 3/4". Since I don't have a lot of 12 x 12 cardstock on hand, my husband and I changed the box a little bit. This box was made with a 8 1/2 x 11 piece of cardstock (the whole piece). We just had to adjust the score lines a little from Dawn's box.

The other thing I changed was the "button hole". Instead of using the circle punch and the word window punch, I just used the word window punch and this allows you to use smaller buttons. The button on this box is from the Button Bouquet collection. The cardstock is pink Pirouette and the designer paper is the Bella Rose paper. I also used Red Riding Hood taffeta ribbon and the new Cute & Curly stamp set and punch.
